The STAR-8 starts as simple as a 1 RU standalone 8 channel analog video monochrome crawl inserter (NO AUDIO). It is capable of either displaying a single fixed page of information, or can crawl a single message for each of its 8 channels. Auto bypass is built into every STAR-8. In the event of a power failure, the hardware automatically connects the video input directly to the video output, bypassing the unit. After a power failure the unit will come up on a reset state with no characters on the display.
The STAR-8 messaging system offers the most economical means of displaying basic crawls messages for large broadband operations. Combined with the powerful STARMU processor and our exclusive XCP software, STAR-8 is a perfect fit for cable headends. Non-volatile battery backup of each channel allows you to create messages with the confidence that they will be displayed automatically when power is restored. The latest version XCP Software (supplied with STARMU system) makes data entry easy to create and edit pages and crawls. It also allows for true off- line editing, remote communication, and real time scheduling. |
