Description:
The MPS architecture supports up to eight multi-channel functional modules in addition to a common system controller and power supply. The decrypt/extract module provides decryption of incoming transport streams (typically received via satellite) under control of the program provider and either the DAC-6000 or national control system. Each module can decrypt up to 32 services. It also extracts local service information (SI) and MPEG-2 program specific information (PSI) The encrypt/insert module provides for local encryption of transport streams under control of the DAC-6000 or national controller and MPEG-2 message insertion. It supports 32 services per encrypt module. The L-Band module features dual tuners for processing satellite feeds. The module allows for QPSK demodulation of any satellite feed (950-2050MHz) generated by a DigiCipher® II encoder with data rates ranging from 3 Mbps to 40+ Mbps per multiplex. The QAM module is designed to modulate signals to digital cable set-top terminals. Its single channel interface is compliant with ITU J.83 Annex A or B (module dependent)and provides both 64 and 256QAM support. The QAM module provides an IF output for interfacing to external upconverters. The Remultiplexer module provides add/drop grooming functionality to create two output multiplexes from up to six input multiplexes received via the MPS backplane. Each input and output can support a maximum 52 Mbps information rate. |
